High battery usage when idle - v1.1
I have not run myNoise since charging this morning. The Settings -> Battery screen reports that myNoise is responsible for 14% of battery usage since last full charge.
This is on a Nexus 6P. I'm happy to provide any additional information that might be helpful.

I'm having the same problem. 17% battery used since I unplugged my phone this morning. Screenshot attached.
-
This is for version 1.0 running on a moto x style running stock android 6.0.
-
This is fixed in release 1.0. The app might still appear in the list of high CPU use, but the actual battery drain is much lower than reported

Hi. I'd like to reopen this bug. I tried running the 1.1 version of MyNoise for just 1 minute earlier today, and Android is reporting that MyNoise is responsible for 8% of battery usage since the last charge. So I think this bug is still present.
I'm happy to provide any info that would help in tracking down the problem.

Let's have a closer look
-
- changed title to High battery usage when idle - v1.1
-
This appears to be fixed in v1.2b1. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if it occurs again.
-
Hmm. It turns out that this is not fixed. I have not used MyNoise at all since my last charge this morning, but the Battery Settings reports that MyNoise has used 14% of my battery life.
So it looks like MyNoise is still using battery in the background.
-
Didn't even open the app since I charged my phone, went to sleep and this morning my battery is 28%...Last night it was full. Like help this Is ridiculous ;-;
-
Correction: battery was at around just under 90%
-
@Kenan we are testing a fix with version 1.2b1 - if you go to More... what is the version number displayed?
-
It IS version 1.2b1
-
Hi, Florian. As I commented to days ago, I'm experiencing this problem in 1.2b1. Thanks!
-
Hey Florian, I also thought, we solved the problem with 1.2b1 (see Issue
#81) but myNoise still keeps my device awake. I used the app in the morning, stopped it in the office and charged my phone. This is what I found in the battery stats (40 mins after charging): -
I haven't used the app a day or so, it's cleared from the recent apps yet it still runs?? The only way I can get it to stop draining my battery is to force stop it. My battery is really draining fast because of it. Fix fix plz plz
-
I usually lose ~10% battery over night, I had 97% when I went to sleep yet instead of waking up to see ~87% the battery was at at 74%? I believe. You can really notice the shorter battery life when you don't force stop the app.
-
Please try 1.2b3
-
I updated and tried again this morning. I used myNoise for about 5 minutes, but my phone is warm and reporting that myNoise has used 6% of the battery.
-
mcnabb8: could you confirm you are using 1.2b3 (from the more... page) please?
-
I think 1.2b3 solved this issue on my S7. mcnabb8: I also switched to normal cpu mode (see#
#84). -
I was indeed using 1.2b3. I later checked and found that it was set to high cpu mode. I have now switched to low cpu mode, so we'll see if that works around the problem.
-
tested on 1.2 battery usage is normal
<33
-
myNoise on my phone is set to normal CPU mode, and the version says "1.2" (no beta). Right now, the phone is warm, and the battery settings screen is reporting 15% usage due to myNoise.
-
Try to force stop the app then open it again test is it any better???
-
Hi, Kenan. I tried force stopping and reopening yesterday, and today I'm still having the same battery usage problem.
-
I cheered too soon. MyNoise kept my device awake the whole night. I last used it yesterday afternoon and fully charged my phone before going to bed. This is what I found in the morning:
(btw I updated my S7 to Nougat on Monday and thought there was a more strict Doze-mode than on Marshmallow? MyNoise seems to ignore that.)
-
Just out of curiosity, are there any updates on this? I haven't used the app for a few months due to the battery life issue, but I'm happy to test out any potential fixes. Thanks!
-
Hi folks, I just discovered myNoise and love it, except it eats up my battery faster than I used to spoon up Nutella. It's version 1.2 downloaded from Google Play just a couple days ago, running on an Asus Zenfone 2 Laser with Android 6. The battery consumption is drastic - from 12h runtime it's down to 5. App starts at boot, and keeps restarting in the background even that Android detects the battery drain and offers to close it (which I do). I'd rather not uninstall the app in under 48h from first impression and purchasing some sound packs. Help?
-
Titel go to settings => apps then find mynoise and click on it, then click "force stop" it should stop it from running without you uninstalling it I had this issue before but I think Its fixed or better now? I really am not sure but I haven't had trouble since the last big update what CPU mode are you on? Can any admin here acknowlage that the problem is still present or has it been fixed if so how is this guy still having trouble with this?
-
Thanks Kehan, that's what I've been doing, but it's annoying af to keep doing it as a workaround for a bug which should be fixed. It's abnormal that an application I've closed and has no reason to run in the background (no playback, no data sync, no events to expect), to continue to run and consume resources.
PS: in settings I have set it on Normal CPU.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I believe this is now fixed in beta 1.5 - feel free to give it a try by enrolling for free here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.mynoise.mynoise
-
Unfortunately, I'm still experiencing this bug in 1.5.
I listened for about an hour and then paused. Since pausing and leaving the app, the battery usage attributed to myNoise in the Android Battery Settings has gone up from about 15% to about 23%.
-
This is maddening. All our test devices show no usage. Still on it. I will need a couple more days if telemetry to sort this out.
-
It indeed sounds like a maddening bug. For what it's worth, I'm currently running Android 8.0.0 on a Nexus 6P.
