Log for Search & Replace

Issue #183 resolved
Former user created an issue

Original issue 183 created by @ysavourel on 2011-09-01T15:16:10.000Z:

Summary from end-user feedback:

The S&R step does not have any information of what was changed.

Some kind of verbose log would be nice, with the information such as filename, text before, text after, etc.

Alternatively, a very detailed output or even a preview function that marks the strings in red that will be replaced. Something like this would be great.

Also there is no feedback to the user when Rainbow hasn't changed any files at all (to reproduce: select the output tab, run utitlies>search and replace; nothing happens).

YS note: This possibly ties in with the interactive aspect we discussed a while back.

Proposal: I can add log info to the, most of it at debug level, with a summary at info level. With the logging relatively unified now, the output kind of tasks cases of itself, I think.

Sounds like a good way to go since we have a good logging system now.
Maybe having this as an option would be useful as, in some cases, one may want to avoid getting huge logs. Maybe even make the logging off by default?

Added mechanism to log the result of the search and replace. Currently, it only logs the number of replacements for each search strings.
