Italics in Pallatino capitals (chapter/section headers etc.)
Dear André and other classicthesis
maintainer,
first, thanks a lot for the classicthesis
package and all the efforts you put into it. I've recently submitted my PhD thesis and will send a postcard as soon as I've survived my defense ;-).
I'd like to reiterate on issue #45 as I think for many biologists/natural scientists it is important to have italics in the capitals used extensively in classicthesis
(\spacedlowsmallcaps
in the chapter, section, table headings etc. and \spacedallcaps
in the part headings and the title), exemplified by many stackoverflow questions.
For my thesis I replaced the Palatino mathpazo font with the modern 'New PX font' Palatino package, which includes italics also for capitals.
Thus as the last lines in classicthesis-config.tex I included:
\usepackage[largesc]{newpxtext}
\useosf
\linespread{1.05}
I propose to replace mathpazo with newpxtext or at least include it as an outcommented option in the config file (maybe also a short entry in the FAQs).
Thanks a lot!
Cheers, Andreas

Thank you for your kind feedback and for pointing us to this interesting package. I will put some info about this option in all the right places. Maybe we can even switch from
mathpazo
tonewpxt
