FAPI 1.0 Part 1 and Part 2 Title

Issue #329 resolved
Nat Sakimura created an issue

It came up today in the call that we want to change the name of the draft as it was discussed a month ago. Then there was a push back before going to WGLC so we did not change the name when we went into WGLC but it came up again today, just 16 hours or so before the close of the WGLC.

So, I would like to ask you to chime into this ticket to express your preference. I offer three options.

  1. Part 1: Baseline, Part 2: Advanced
  2. Part 1: Read Only, Part 2: Read and Write
  3. Part 1, Part 2 (without nicknames)

Please indicate which option (1, 2, or 3) you prefer.

Best,

Nat

    1. Part 1: Baseline, Part 2: Advanced

(But with a strong preference that the WG provides guidance on recommended abbreviations, to avoid FAPI2-Advanced becoming an ambiguous term. I’d suggest that ‘FAPI1-Advanced’ is defined to mean FAPI version 1, and ‘FAPI2-Advanced’ is only ever used to refer to FAPI version 2.)

I’d also be quite happy to drop the ‘Part 1’, ‘Part 2’ - I’m not sure they really gain us anything.

Joseph makes a fair point about dropping the ‘Part 1’, ‘Part 2’… that I think I could get onboard with.

    +1 for 1.
I’m not sure if we should conflate the two Advanced profiles. FAPI 1 Advanced is closer to FAPI 2 Baseline than FAPI 2 Advanced. Not sure how we could solve this…

So, it is option 1. We could potentially drop "Part x" but I propose to keep it as we plan to submit it to ISO and then they would tell us to do so anyway.

Edmund, when you create the version to submit to the foundation secretary, please make sure that the title is also changed accordingly by creating a pull request.

Please also change other occurrences of Read-only and Read and Write within the drafts as well.
