sort by Epic link for the detail

Issue #1220 resolved
Winifred Yang created an issue

Currently the detail is sort by issue id, is it possible to sort by specific field for the detail ? e.g. sort by Epic link? 2019-3-5 下午 05-05-14.png

    Hi Winifred,

Have you tried if Sort By or Order By Field in report options works for it?

Note, Epic Link is somewhat specific field, and Epic and Sub-Tasks will not have one, so it may need special treatment. You may try to enable Sum SubTasks option instead, and report should be sorted by Epic issue key.

Please see also issue#1216, probably the same.

And finally, could you please clarify, is it Timesheet Reports and Gadgets for Jira Server, which version?

    Thank you.

We just upgrade to 3.3.8 for JIRA server. I also checked the sum by subtask option, but still not work. Still only sort by the issue key. I want to have the issues sort by epic link.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, that you have to configure Parent Issue Field in Administrations - Add-ons - Timesheet Configuration, so that Epic issues are aggregated properly, within Sum SubTasks option enabled.

    Hi Winifred,

I've just investigated sorting by Epic Link more thoroughly, and should admit it does not work indeed, and it does not seem feasible to fix it, because Epic Link is rather specific field.

However, I think sorting by Epic Name instead, could work, at least in case of Sum SubTasks option enabled.

To get it working without Sum SubTasks, please wait for next update with additional fix for this.

    Thank you.

We upgraded from 3.3.8 to 3.3.10 today,

But found the Timespent and Project pivot report become very strange .

In 3.3.8, there is a summary by Epic link table on the top of the timespent report. But 3.3.10 it disappeared.

The Summary table is very useful for us, please help to put it back.

And the Project Pivot report is strange too.

    Config:

The original requirement I would like to have is to sort the issues in the detail table by Epic link.

    Hi Winifred,

    1. I don’t think there was a summary table in Timespent report, similar to Pivot Report. Or could you please clarify if you mean something else.
    2. Please try to Group by: Epic Name instead

    Thank you.

Group by Epic Name works well. The detail is sort by Epic Name.

There is a summary table in Timespend report as well, the difference is in 3.3.8, it is default group by Epic Link, Epic link has color identifier is more clear and easily to read. Is it possible to group by Epic link like before? thanks.

Looks like you just need to uncheck Show Details option in report configuration.

Please let me know if anything else.

    Thank you.
