Good idea, but we should design intuitive icons instead. These images required far to much space in a compact UI.

E.g.

• a vegetation profile with R-G-B colored lines a the wavelength of interest
• a row of 5-10 pixel, showing typical colors

Can you provide an example graphic for your suggestion? Not quite sure if I understand what you mean.

Either icons with intuitive poictorgram that can be used on standard button sizes or nothing.
These example images are more disturbing that helping and 64x64 simply take too much space.

Not sure about that, because 64 pixel istn’t that big actually. The current buttons (e.g. “True Color”) is more than 80 pixels
