Moneydance-2019 / Report Writer Filter Parameters

The filter parameters available with Report Writer are defined in the 'Data Filter Parameters' screen on the main screen. As shown here:

To add a new entry click on button (1). To edit an existing filter set click on the required entry and click on button (2). To copy an entry click on the required entry and click on button (3). To delete an entry click on the required entry and click on button (4).

When creating or editing an entry you will be presented with the following screen:

The fields are as follows:

  1. The name must be entered. If the name already exists the user is asked if the file should be overwritten. If you change the name on an existing set the data is written to the new name. The old set using the old name is not deleted.
  2. Filtering by dates is optional, check this box if you want records to be filtered by date.
  3. The from and to dates must be selected. They both default to the current date.
  4. You can use a date picker by clicking on this button
  5. If you check this box the To date is ignored and records are filtered up to the current date
  6. If this box is checked records will be filtered by the Account (if relevant). If not checked no filtering occurs on account.
  7. These boxes are only relevant if box 6 is checked. If any of the boxes are checked only records that have accounts with the chosen type(s) are selected. If individual accounts are not selected then all accounts of the chosen types are selected. If individual accounts are chosen by using button 9 then only those accounts are selected.
  8. If this box is checked then inactive accounts are included. If not checked inactive accounts are ignored.
  9. Click on this button if you wish to select particular accounts. This will pop up a selection window(see below) with all accounts of the types selected.
  10. If this box is checked records will be filtered on categories. If not checked no filtering occurs on categories.
  11. These boxes are only relevant if box 10 is checked. If either/both only records that have categories with the chosen type(s) are selected. If individual categories are not selected then all categories of the chosen type(s) are selected. If individual categories are chosen using button 9 then only those categories are selected.
  12. Click on this button if you wish to select particular categories. This will pop up a selection window(see below) with all categories of the types selected.
  13. If this box is checked records are filtered on Budget name (where relevant).
  14. Select the Budget you wish to report on, it is only relevant if box 13 is checked.
  15. If this box is checked records are filtered on particular currencies
  16. Click on this button to select currencies. This will pop up a selection window(see below) with all of the currencies.
  17. If this box is checked records are filtered on particular securities.
  18. Click on this button to select securities. This will pop up a selection window(see below) with all of the securities.
  19. If this box is checked records will be filtered on transaction fields. This is relevant to all types of transactions.
  20. Check the status of the transactions to be selected. If none of the boxes are checked then all statuses are selected. If any of the boxes are checked only records with the chosen status(es) are selected.
  21. If you wish to select records based on cheque number enter the range here. All records with a cheque number >= From Cheque No are chosen unless the To Cheque No is entered where only records with a Cheque number less than or equal to the To Cheque No are selected.
  22. If your transactions have tags and you wish to filter on particular tags click on this button. It will pop up a selection window(see below) with all tags used.
  23. If this box is checked investment transactions are filtered. If not checked all investment transactions are chosen (unless filtered out by other filters).
  24. Click on this button if you wish to select particular Investment Accounts and/or Securities.
  25. Click on this button if you wish to select particular Investment Transaction types.
  26. Click on this button to save the data and exit.
  27. Click on this button to cancel and exit (no data is saved).

Selection Window

When you use one of the selection buttons above the following screen is shown.

To select all of the entries click on 'Select All', to deselect all click on 'Deselect All'. You can select individual entries, or if you select an entry when the entries below are indented then all of the 'sub' entries are also selected. Click on OK to save and exit, Cancel to exit without saving.
