5.5 Flash menu

The Flash menu contains settings entries related to flashing the bios banks of the XBlast modchip. There are three media locations you can flash your Xblast Modchip as explained below.

##5.5.1 Bank detection and selection Here you can select the bank of the modchip you wish to flash in the xblast lite there are three banks to choose from:

512KB bank, this bank is useful for larger bios images 256KB bank, this bank is useful for smaller bios images OS bank (256KB) this bank is designed as the bank to install your xblast os bios image and updates.

Note: When launching XBlast OS from XBE when Xbox booted from TSOP, you will see flash bank entries related to your TSOP. TSOP split will be detected and proper bank entries will be shown accordingly.

Note: "Bank2 (OS)" flash bank will only accept XBlast OS ".bin" images. Any other file will return an error and abort the flashing procedure. CRC32 checksum verification is made prior flashing to ensure no data corruption during OS update.

###5.5.1.1 Flash method selection.

Once you have selected a flash bank you will be presented with an assortment of different flash methods giving a a choice of a method will best suit you.

Possible entries are:

  1. Netflash (flash from web server)
  2. CD Flash (flash "image.bin" on a ISO9660 CD-RW/DVD-R)
  3. HDD flash (flash from file in "C:\Bios\" on your Xbox hard drive)

##5.5.2 NetFlash

Using netFlash, you can push a bios image from a browser enabled device such as a personal computer. When you select this option you will be presented with a interface as below showing you the IP address of he Xbox, you need to type in the IP address of the Xbox into your web browser.

DHCP address binding is enabled by default in XBlast OS and should accomodate most users. If need be, you can change XBlast OS Network Settings to enable Static network configuration. for more information on setting up your network.

##5.5.3 CD Flash (image.bin) CD Flash will look for a BIOS file called "image.bin" at the root of a burned CD-RW/DVD-R. "image.bin" must be of 256KB, 512KB or 1024KB in size to be considered valid.

Note: Bios disc must be burned as a "regular" ISO9660 disc. Do NOT burn your BIOS disc using xISO format.

##5.5.4 HDD flash

Using HDD flash you can flash your XBlast modchip using a select a bios image from the internal xbox harddisk. The bios image must be installed in "C:\Bios\" and must be of 256KB, 512KB or 1024KB in size to be considered valid.

Select your bios image from here to proceed with the flash.
